BT-542B is a 16-bit PC/AT bus mastering SCSI host adapter. Designed forhigh-performance, multitasking environments, it provides 5 MB per seconddata transfers to SCSI peripherals and up to 10 MB per second DMA datatransfers. True multitasking operation is achieved through the adapter'smailbox protocol that can support up to 255 tasks simultaneously with aminimum of host processor intervention. This mailbox protocol alsosupports scatter gather data transfers of over 8, non-contiguous datasegments. BT-542B works with UNIX, XENIX, NetWare, OS/2, and DOS, as wellas SCSI-1 and SCSI-2 peripheral devices.
